Electronic Wiper System Upgrade for 65-71 International Scout 800Posted in Product Reviews on February 21, 2014 Comment (0)
If you’ve got an old ’65 – 71 International Scout 800, you’re probably not very fond of the rain or severe winter weather for that matter. There’s no denying that the factory vacuum operated wipers are about as unreliable as… well, International Scouts! All kidding aside, vacuum wipers don’t make much sense if you’re wheeling up a rocky trail in the rain because if you’re using a bit of throttle or have a lumpy camshaft, you’re probably going to be lacking significant vacuum which means all you’re going to see in front of you is water droplets. Most of the time, the vacuum hoses have long since succumb to dry rotting, so what’s a Corn Binder enthusiast to do?
Scout 800 lovers now have an answer to that age old problem thanks to New Port Engineering which has just introduced its 1965-71 International Scout 800 solution to wiper problems. New Port Engineering calls this their Clean Wipe Wiper System and it will upgrade Scout 800’s that were originally equipped with two vacuum wiper motors to a dual electric system with very little modification to the vehicle.
The kit comes complete with a 2-speed heavy duty motor, all brackets and linkage arms, wiper transmissions and housings, chrome retaining plates, stainless steel wiper arms and blades, switch and wiring harness. There are no modifications necessary to the original holes. All you have to do is drill and tap a small hole underneath the dash for a support bracket.
If you’re old Scout 800 could use a wiper system that actually works when you need it, be sure to check out New Port Engineering’s Clean Wipe Wiper System.
