Our Favorite New Products At The 2014 Easter Jeep Safari

If there is one single important Jeep event to not miss, it’s the Easter Jeep Safari held every year in Moab, Utah. Not only is the area around Moab an off-road mecca, the number of vendors that showcase off-road–worthy products at the end of the week is staggering. As a consumer, you get one-on-one time with the makers of each and every product. Of course, we take advantage of the situation and prod for more than what’s on display. Sometimes we end up striking out, and sometimes we hit pay dirt, like this year. The Jeep aftermarket is alive and well, with all sorts of useful trinkets coming down the pipeline. Here are some of our favorites.

FSJ Insanity
Well-built FSJs always turn our heads, and this unfinished Cherokee Chief under construction by Off Road Power Products was just plain insane with the opened up wheelwells to the powertrain. Underneath, you’ll find low-slung link suspensions front and rear, a Dynatrac ProRock 60 front axle, a huge ProRock 80 rear axle, and an Atlas transfer case. The whole thing is motivated by a Viper V-10 engine and an auto tranny pilfered from a Dodge SRT-10 pickup. It was just too cool not to share.

Bolt-On Bypass
We prodded the guys at Rock Krawler Suspension for more new products than the heavy-duty JK tie rod that the company had on hand. What we found out was that Rock Krawler will soon be the first to offer completely bolt-on external bypass 4x4 shocks. Bypass shocks, by design, are position-sensitive and easily adjustable to allow for better vehicle control and a smoother ride over any terrain. The shocks will be available for many popular Jeep applications by the time you read this.

Blister Paced
We spotted this overseas-offered Red Winches Hornet in the RubiconTested.com booth. The overdrive version of the winch provides a blistering unloaded line speed of 197 feet per minute. It’s more than two times faster than any other common production electric winch currently available in the USA.

Under Adder
It’s tough to add significant power to the Jeep JK given the confined engine compartment. To solve this problem, STS Turbo moved the power-adder under the Jeep. The turbo system is completely bolt-on and provides 300 horsepower at the wheels using an oil-less Comp turbo. Other remote-mount turbo kits are also available.

Industrial Anchors
The new forged Warn Premium winch hook, snatch block, clevis, and tree strap with steel ends all had an awesome industrial look. The new Premium winch accessories feature a Cerakote coating for maximum protection against wear and abrasion, and the winch hook even has a built-in bottle opener.

More Mopar
Mopar is finally stepping up to the plate with real off-road–worthy products, including bolt-in JK Dana 60 axles. The 2-inch suspension kit featuring progressive-rate coils and Fox shocks, as well as the street-legal-ish beadlocks, were a welcomed sight too. We were also told that Mopar plans to offer more competitive pricing.
