Factory stamped-steel differential covers provide only marginal protection to your gear-oil-filled axles. American Expedition Vehicles now offers heavy-duty nodular iron differential covers that are made in the USA. The covers fit the front and rear Dana 44 axles found in the ’07-and-up Jeep JK Wrangler. There are two fluid-level ports placed at the correct levels to meet factory specifications for both the front and rear axles. An oversized fill port is located on the top of the cover. This fill port not only allows you to easily add fluid in the field if axle repairs are necessary, but it also doubles as an inspection window to see the inside of the differential. Each cover is E-coated and powdercoated for durability.

Redesigned Reeling
Smittybilt introduces its redesigned X20 winches, now with 6.6 hp. New options include different mounting locations for the IP68-rated, waterproof 500-amp solenoid and a winch controller that can be plugged into the winch or operated remotely. A new larger clutch lever is said to make it easy to operate with gloves. Sizes include 10,000, 12,000, 15,500, and 17,500 pounds of pulling capacity to cover a wide range of Jeeps. All X20 winches come standard with a steel cable and a roller fairlead. The 10,000 and 12,000-pound models are also available in a Comp Edition that includes lightweight synthetic winch line and a low-profile hawse fairlead.

XJ Stretching
If you’re looking to get some suspension flex from your XJ, MetalCloak may have what you need. The company now offers a 3.5-inch Duroflex suspension system for the Cherokee. The Duroflex joints offer the vibration-dampening of a rubber bushing with the high-misalignment of a ball joint. Each joint is housed in an adjustable chromoly control arm. The kit includes dual-rate coil springs, an adjustable front bumpstop system for proper tire clearance, steel-braided Kevlar-lined front and rear brake lines, solid chromoly front track bar, sway-bar disconnects, replacement shackle bushings, rear bumpstop kit, Grade 8 U-bolts, complete replacement rear leaf packs, Old Man Emu shocks, and all the hardware needed for installation.

Spider Speak
Black Widow Exhaust now offers several stainless steel universal Jeep-sized mufflers. If you have the skills to install a performance muffler and don’t want to drop the coin for a full cat-back system, Black Widow mufflers are for you. The mufflers are made from 304 and 430 stainless, depending on the model. Different inlet and outlet sizes and offsets are available too. Black Widow mufflers feature a straight-through baffle design without packing that can deteriorate over time or chambers that can impede airflow. You can even hear how they sound online!

Compact Jack
JD Fabrication now offers a compact and lightweight custom-reinforced scissor jack for off-roaders. Its range is 4.5 inches collapsed and 25 inches extended. A 1⁄4-inch aluminum saddle helps keep the Jeep axle in place when lifting, and a large 3⁄16-inch aluminum baseplate keeps the jack from sinking into soft soils under load. The JD Fabrication jack can be operated by a common wrench or ratchet, but a cordless impact wrench speeds up the lifting process. An optional aluminum storage box is also available.

Down Under WK2
The Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 has a lot of appealing on- and off-road features. Old Man Emu by ARB just made the WK2 even better with the availability of a range of tuned and matched suspension systems engineered specifically for the Grand. The kits ensure that the right suspension is available to suit how the vehicle is outfitted and used. Suspension options cover a range of builds from lightly built and stock vehicles up to those with 660 pounds of added weight. The OME kits will not work with the Quadra-Lift airbag system.

Steered Straight
When you lift your ’07-to-present Jeep Wrangler, the drag-link angle increases. This can cause bumpsteer and quirky handling. Rubicon Express now offers its High Steer Kit, which raises the drag link location on the axle end and returns the steering to factory angles. The kit is designed to work with any 3.5- to 5.5-inch lift on JK Wranglers. Each kit includes a heavy-duty drag link constructed from solid-bar stock and is designed to use the factory tie-rod ends for a bolt-on installation. A new track bar mount is also included to mirror the steering geometry. The new track bar bracket accepts the factory track bar and relocates the steering stabilizer up and out of the way to protect it from obstacles.

Brighter Bulbs
PIAA Corporation has expanded its line of advanced-technology Night-Tech replacement bulbs with the addition of 9007 and H13 bulbs. These new SAE/DOT-compliant 9007 and H13 halogen bulbs fit several models of Jeep vehicles for enhanced nighttime visibility. The advanced technology behind PIAA Night-Tech bulbs is said to provide up to 90 percent more light than conventional bulbs. This translates into an increase in illumination range of as much as 100 feet when compared to conventional bulbs. The Night-Tech bulbs are also said to be more durable and longer-lasting than other bulb designs.
