Vision X Light Cannon - Night Vision

Auxiliary lighting is making a comeback in a big way, and at the forefront of the push is LED (light emitting diode) technology. What used to require multiple large and space-absorbing halogen lights can now be easily achieved by just a couple compact LEDs. We were in the market for some extra lighting for the front of our Jeep but needed something compact. Having a smaller light set was important for two very different reasons.

Given our Jeep already likes to run on the warm side, fitting a more compact light in front of the grill would lessen the airflow block of a much larger light. The second reason we were looking to go small was that we wanted to be able to use them on the street without drawing too much ire or unwanted attention. Our lighting solution came by way of Vision X 4.5 Light Cannon LED-series lights.

Without a cover, the 4.5-inch Cannon produces a 10-degree narrow beam, which is designed to propel usable light up to 1,000 feet. The optional Euro and Flood quick-change snap-on covers allow you to quickly and easily adjust the spread of the light. Colored lens covers are also available.

Vision X offers the Light Cannon LED in 4.5, 6.7, and 8.7-inch varieties. In addition, the company has a diverse line of HID, halogen, and LED auxiliary lights, including some direct-fit replacement lights. Despite the compact size of the 4.5 Light Cannon LED, the low-draw light set is capable of projecting 1,000 feet of usable light. More importantly for our needs, by attaching one of the company’s snap-on lens covers, we could change the beam to best fit our needs.

We opted for the 4.5-inch light set with the optional wiring harness, which made the overall install extremely simple and efficient. So far, we’ve enjoyed the extra lighting both on- and off-road. As you can see in the photos, the snap-on lenses make a tremendous difference. We’re using the Euro covers mostly as they tend to give us a nice balance of distance and spread. Spot It’s pretty incredible how attaching the snap-on covers can change the usable field of light. As you can see, each has its own strong suits, but we especially liked the balance of distance and spread that the Euro covers offered.
