One of the hardest-working suspension components in an off-road vehicle is its shock absorber. They help control the suspension and ride dynamics, while also giving drivers super powers to race across choppy terrain, survive big hits, and even take ground-pounding jumps most would never ponder. Without quality performance off-road shocks, most vehicles would not last long in the dirt. In fact, it’s very likely original equipment components would fail, sending your truck down the road bouncing like a pogo stick. This also holds true for racing applications. Having the right shocks for the job and knowing how to set them up will do wonders come race day. To help Dirt Sports + Off-Road has put together a collection of the latest off-road shocks for truck, prerunner, and race vehicles sure to keep you in control.

King 4.5 Pure Race Series Bypass Shock
King’s Pure Race series bypass shocks offer performance and adjustability, using only the finest materials to ensure the race-winning ride and quality that King is known for. Each bypass shock is custom-made, with options available for quantity and location of bypass tubes. King’s extensive fluid dynamics knowledge was utilized when designing their ported, cold-drawn 2024 billet aluminum piston. King Pure Race series shocks feature Teflon bronze wear band, Viton O-rings, carbon composite wiper seals, and stainless alloy heat-treated valve shim—all designed to remain stable at high racing temperatures. The 1.25-inch diameter shock shaft is induction hardened to 60-65 Rockwell, hard chrome plated and micro-polished to a 3 RMS mirror finish to protect against rock bruising. King Pure Race series shocks are available in various lengths, with over 30 different shock options to choose from.

ADS Monstrous 5.25 Bypass
ADS Racing Bypass shocks offer big suspension adjustability and cooling power. They rocked the off-road nation with the introduction of the largest diameter bypass shock to date—the ADS Monstrous. This 5.25-inch diameter, five-tube bypass shock was developed after off-road short course racers complained of overheating other shocks on the market. ADS set out to design a larger, stronger, cooler racing bypass shock. The ADS Monstrous has oil capacity of 2.5 gallons, significantly increasing cooling capacity by volume. Reliability is ensured by only using the highest-grade racing shock components.

Pro Comp Pro Runner Black Series
Pro Comp’s new Pro Runner Black Series Coilovers use high-quality materials and are handcrafted for unmatched performance, no matter what terrain lies in your path. Black Series coilovers use large 2.75-inch monotube steel bodies that greatly increase fluid volume for superior cooling and allow for a larger piston and valve stack that increase control throughout the shock’s travel. The shock bodies are zinc plated, and then treated to a UV clearcoat and gloss polyurethane coating for long-lasting good looks, even in salty environments. Anodized black billet aluminum endcaps are found at each end of the coilovers and are fitted with Teflon-coated spherical bearings to eliminate binding. Coil springs come installed on the coilovers with an adjustable preload collar to fine-tune ride height. Current offerings cover popular applications including ’07-14 GM half-ton pickups, ’09-14 Ford F-150, ’07-14 Toyota Tundra, and ’05-14 Toyota Tacoma.
