Good Head
Engine Quest might not be a name you recognize, but the company is a leading supplier of new, remanufactured, and reclaimed engine parts. And now the company is offering a replacement ’98-’06 Jeep 4.0L cylinder head. It is sized for 1.91-inch intake and 1.50-inch exhaust valves and features 58cc combustion chambers. It is designed to replace the #0331 cylinder head and features reinforcing to prevent the cracking that sometimes occurred with the early #0331 cylinder head castings and has the high-velocity exhaust ports of the #0331 cylinder head as well. Z-Rod
It is commonly known that oils on the shelf at your local parts store aren’t the best for our Jeeps with flat-tappet camshafts. Roller-lifter engines just don’t need the same level of zinc to keep the cam happy as most of our Jeep engines do. Amsoil has introduced its Z-Rod line of oils with the added zinc that is needed in flat-tappet-equipped engines. The company has introduced it in both 10W-30 and a 20W-50 viscosity with a proprietary additive package that helps reduce wear and maximizes protection during storage. Information: Amsoil, 800/777-8491, amsoil.com

Big and Bulletproof
Dana 60 parts are big but they are by no means indestructible. However, the Violator U-joint from Ouverson takes it one step closer to being bulletproof. The joint is made from 300M steel with CNC-ground journals and 4340 aircraft-grade caps. An oil-impregnated bushing and double-lip seal will keep the joint going for many years to come. And, when the time comes and it is finally worn out, the Violator joints are fully rebuildable as well. Wide Open Design is the exclusive distributor for this U-joint. Better Balls
The ball joints of the JK Wrangler are a well-known weak spot and Synergy Suspension has done something about it. The plastic liners in the factory joints just aren’t the best design so the Synergy joints feature a fully-greasable sintered metal-on-metal design. The ball joint boots are made from tear and wear resistant polyurethane. The set of four comes with all needed hardware and is available for a suggested retail price of $250. The company plans to have other applications available by the time you read this. Information: Synergy Suspension: 805/242-0397, synergysuspension.com

Boomless
There is no denying the comfort of the ’07-and-up JK but like everything else, there is room for improvement. In this case we are talking about the hardtop insulation of both the two- and four-door Jeeps. Boom Mat has been making noise-reducing mat for years and now offers this easy-to-install pre-cut kit for your JK. Simply order according to the number of doors of your Jeep, peel, and stick. The kit reduces interior noise by 3 to 4 dB which will make the already nice ride that much quieter. This will allow you to carry on conversations easier and get that much more enjoyment out of your stereo. Information: Boom Mat, 800/264-9472, boommat.com

20-20 Hindsight
They say hindsight is always 20-20. But if your rearview mirrors aren’t adjusted correctly or are caked with snow or ice your hindsight is going to be way less than that. Do yourself a favor this coming winter and upgrade your ’07-and-up JK’s mirrors. This power mirror with defrost kit from Off Road Engineering features Mopar mirrors and a Mopar control switch along with a custom wiring harness to make these mirrors function as though they were in the Jeep from the factory. On hardtop-equipped models the defrost function ties in with the rear-window defrost switch. For soft top models there is an optional defrost switch and/or defrost timer available. Information: Off Road Engineering, 949/581-2991, offroadengineering.com

Wheel Quiet
The Honda Eu3000is generator is a great choice for those out-of-the-way power needs because of how quiet it is. However, if you want to move it you need to wait until it cools down and even then, it isn’t all that light. The off-road wheel kit from Advanced Precision Solution provides 41⁄2 inches of ground clearance and installs in under 10 minutes. It features pneumatic tires and is constructed from steel finished in durable black enamel. The overall dimension is 25 inches wide by 31 inches long which provides a more stable base with added side protection. Cool Wrangler
If you are having trouble keeping your ’87-’06 Wrangler cool, Walker Radiator Works has the solution with its Cobra line of radiators. Well known and respected in the street world, Walker is now bringing this heavy-duty four-core radiator to the Jeep world. The Cobra radiator is a copper/brass radiator that features louvers at each fin crossing. The louvers eliminate the air boundary that can exist which insulates the fin from air flow, robbing the radiator of cooling efficiency. In a typical Cobra radiator, there are 620,400 of these louvers which change the direction of the air 206,800 times. At the edge of the fin the copper is hemmed into a double thickness for added strength and durability. This is the heaviest Wrangler radiator we’ve ever seen. Steer Clear, Steer Long
Who better than a company that is dedicated to all sorts of steering solutions to bring yet another power steering upgrade? Flaming River now offers a high-performance power steering fluid in 1-quart containers. The power steering fluid reduces operating temperatures and fluid expansion. It also resists foaming and can lengthen the life of the entire power steering system by reducing internal wear and tear. Information:Flaming River, 440/826-4488, flamingriver.com

Live Easier
We’ve been known to choose where we were going to live by whether or not we could run our 230V-powered welder. Well, now we can live wherever we want thanks to Hobart’s new Handler 210MVP. The Multi Voltage Plug (MVP) enables the welder to be run off of either 115V or 230V input power simply by switching plugs. When running on 115V power it offers 140 amps of output and when on 230V input it has 210 amps of output on tap. The welder has enough power to weld 3⁄8-inch-thick steel with one pass and the precision control means that it can go down to 24-gauge steel without blowing through.
