October 2005 New 4x4 Products

What's New

October 2005 4X4 Products Jeep Intake

This purely bolt-on kit is said to improve torque by 15 percent over stock levels. Edge claims these gains on an '00 Wrangler with a five-speed manual transmission. With the Trail Jammer system installed, the TJ produced 177 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque versus the stock 156 hp and 202 lb-ft of torque. The Trail Jammer kit includes three main components: a throttle body, an electronic module, and a cold-air intake system. Information: 888/360-3343, www.edgeproducts.com.

October 2005 4X4 Products Flexarms

These new modular arms were developed for TeraFlex's MAX-LCG suspension system, and they're useful for the do-it-yourself suspension fabricator as well. They are said to provide superior strength, while offering a maximum shank length of 4 inches of increased adjustability. The steel housing is forged, machined, and zinc-plated for durability. The modular joints are interchangeable and replaceable for complete customization to a specific driving style or terrain. They come standard with TeraFlex's FlexJoint ends, but are also available in OEM rubber and spherical-steel. FlexArms come in stock-length configurations for such vehicles as TJ Wranglers, XJ Cherokees (front), and all ZJ Grand Cherokees. Information: TeraFlex at 801/288-2585, www.teraflex.biz.

October 2005 4X4 Products Stinger

Poison Spyder Customs has released the Rear Stinger tire carrier for Jeep Wranglers. Designed as a drop-down tire carrier (as opposed to the standard swing-out); this Rear Stinger will accept up to a 38-inch tire. It's said to be designed to increase departure angle, provide a skid surface to protect the spare tire, and aid in the prevention of a rear rollover. The Rear Stinger will provide a unique hard-core look for the rear of your Jeep. Currently available for '97-present TJs and LJs, with YJ and CJ versions coming soon. Information: 303/777-4820, www.spydercustoms.com.

October 2005 4X4 Products Ford Suspension

Pro Comp Suspension's 7-inch Stage II kit for the '05 Ford 4x4 Super Duty F-250/350 is newly designed and provides ample clearance for aggressive 37-inch tires. It features a unique replacement radius arm that is substantially stronger than the stock unit. New front coil springs replace the stock units for optimal spring rate, and rear leaf-spring assemblies balance out the rear. MX6 or MX6R shocks are available, which feature six-position, externally adjustable damping. This system also includes a forged pitman arm, and sway-bar brackets. Factory steering geometry is maintained for optimal ride quality. Information: www.explorerprocomp.com.

Jeep drivers with 4.0L engines can get a cost-effective performance boost from Edelbrock's new Shorty header (PN 65922) coated with Ti-TECH. This new Tri-Y design header will bolt directly to the factory exhaust system. Using 1 1/2-inch-diameter 409 stainless-steel primary tubes, a 1/2-inch-thick, laser-cut port flange and 3/8-inch-thick laser-cut collector flange, the new header improves performance for '91-'99 4.0L Jeep vehicles. The Ti-TECH coating is said to have heat stability to 1,600 degrees F. Information: www.edelbrock.com.
