What's New

August 2006 4X4 Products Gloves

Fabricator Gloves
This all-new-style glove from Mechanix is designed for manipulating sheetmetal, welding, and creating bodywork. Made from 100 percent leather, this glove has what it takes to make any fabricator happy. These gloves are high-dexterity, and feature three heat-resistant cowhide panels on the heel, inside, and on the outer edge of the palm. Fingertip reinforcements help protect the index, middle, and ring fingers, while dual-layer leather knuckle bands prevent abrasions. We've tried them and can say that these gloves will be your new best friend if you're doing any type of hand-fabrication or TIG-welding. Info: 800/222-4296, www.mechanix.com

August 2006 4X4 Products Cell Signal Amplification

Extend Cell Range for the Trail
We tested this new Wilson cellphone signal amplification system for ourselves and were quite surprised with how well the system improved our phone's coverage. Easy to use, the kit connects directly to the antenna port of most cellphones with a model-specific antenna adapter cord. The kit ensures the maximum signal strength allowed by the FCC (3 watts) and greatly reduces disconnects, drop-outs, and background/interference noise. Our testing involveda Motorola V557 phone and the roof-mounted magnetic antenna. Info: 866/294-6996, www.wilsonelectronics.com
