1987 Ranger STX High Rider
The sporty STX model debuted in 1985, but in 1987 it got a little more big-tire-friendly with the High Rider suspension. Ford claimed 21 suspension differences to produce a 1.5-inch lift. It was done in the way most TTB lift kits are done, with longer pivot brackets, dropped radius arm brackets, longer springs, and re-valved shocks. Larger, relocated sway bars were also added. With these accoutrements, the STX High Rider could mount “big” 235/75R-15 tires. Some aftermarket lift kits will not work with High Rider-equipped trucks, and if they do, advertised lift is reduced by 1.5 inches.
