The YJ’s NP231 transfer case had little-to-no fluid and a rag placed where the fill plug should go when we first found it. After opening up the case, the chain and assorted internals appeared to be in great shape. Since the original slip-style output shaft is less than desirable for our intended use, we replaced it with a heavy-duty SYE (slip-yoke eliminator) conversion output shaft from Tom Wood’s.
