2013 Ford F-250 - Project Super Dirty: Part 2Posted in Project Vehicles on June 23, 2013 Comment (0)
The 2013 Ford F-250 we’re building for Ultimate Adventure 2013 is coming along nicely. And by “coming along nicely” we mean we tore it all apart and cut it in half. If you followed our build last year you know that this is a recurring theme. We get a new 4x4, we tear it all apart, and then we slowly rebuild it so we can take it wheeling for a week.
This year we are doing the fabrication and assembly of the truck at Shaffer’s Off Road in Alameda, California. Proprietor Mike Shaffer has years of experience in modifying and building 4x4s as well as competing in both rockcrawling and desert racing. He is a whiz at custom suspension, and his shop turns out everything from Jeeps and rock buggies to fullsize 4x4’s that look good and work off-road. Our project will incorporate the full spectrum of his shop’s ability with some simple bolt-on upgrades and some parts that will require a fair bit of cutting, grinding, and welding.
This month we’re looking for a clean slate, a fresh start, a white canvas. Basically we’re going to clear everything off our desk so we can get some work done. Next month we start putting it back together.
