Husqvarna HUV 4421D XP

You may know Husqvarna from its line of chainsaws and motorcycles, but the company also builds all types of construction, tree-care, and landscaping equipment. We recently tested its HUV 4421D xp , a UTV and beefy off-road machine. Husqvarna's utility vehicles (UTVs) are great for recreation but are designed as tools for hauling, pulling, and getting driver and passengers to worksites.

What really impressed us about the Husqvarna is how simple it was to drive. With an automatic transmission and auto-locking differentials, the 4421D xp is a machine you could feel safe letting your kids, mother, or crew drive.

The Husqvarna HUV 4421D xp's 20-horse power may not seem like much, but it moves the 1,750-pound machine around just fine. This is done with a rigid aluminum frame, a straight rear axle, an independent front drive axle, and 25-inch-tall off-road tires. Plus the XP package includes skidplates and nerf bars.

Under the driver's seat is a Kubota three-cylinder diesel engine. The glow-plug-equipped engine started easily on cold winter days. The engine is fed by a unique air snorkel plumbed through the UTV's frame. The continuously variable transmission and auto-locking differentials transfer the power and torque seamlessly, and the diesel allows long trips without refueling the 61/2-gallon tank constantly.

The Husqvarna is so simple and easy to drive we let our mother drive it. She enjoyed it so much she was pouting when our test vehicle was returned to Husqvarna

The Husqvarna utility vehicle has an 800-pound load capacity and a dump bed activated by an electric linear actuator. This system is perfect for worksite or farm.
