With the Spartan locker in the dropout and installed in the housing, we checked the axleshafts and knuckle bearings. Since the preload in the kingpins was tight, we slathered red grease on the Birfields and assembled the front end. The axle bearings front and rear were fine, so we simply replaced the seals like a youngster would. In Marlin’s shop normally, everything would have been cleaned and painted. I actually had to hold them back from doing that!
