One of the best mods I've made to any of my engines is a Performance Distributors DUI HEI, along with the company's low-resistance Live Wires plug wires. With its Dyna Module offering more dwell time, a 50,000-volt coil allowing the plugs to be opened up to 0.055-inch gap, and custom tuning of each unit, it's not surprising that my idle smoothed out like a baby's bum and throttle response went from sputtery to razor-sharp and crisp as a fall apple. The DUI not only made the wheezy little 304 run, but run extremely well.
