I selected B&M's Traveler torque converter (PN 20423) for several reasons. Designed for RV, towing, and other heavy-duty applications, it offers roughly 300rpm more stall speed than a stock converter. It bucks conventional 4x4-world wisdom that says all 4x4s need the lowest-stall converter possible. The150hp 304V-8 is no animal and the additional stall will really help get the pig up and moving much better than a stock convertor. I plunked the tranny back into place and used roughly 15 quarts of B&M's high-quality Trick Shift fluid (PN 80259) to top off the system, thanks to my twin aftermarket coolers that bypass the factory in-radiator cooler.
