It was essentially a free oil change. We had five quarts of 10W40 from a head gasket job on a buddy’s Volvo. Don’t ask! We really prefer to use Wix-brand oil filters, but the Fram PH11 was in the back of the Jeep when we bought it, so we spun it on. It’s probably 10 years old, but it does the trick. The ATF in the tranny looked clean, but a closer look at the T-case revealed a big slice in the side of the case from a worn chain. We hit it with some JB Weld and topped off the fluid. The T-case is a goner, but hopefully it’ll live long enough for us to find a replacement or come up with some other option.
