We welded some gate hinges from the steel supply yard to the seat frames and some 1-inch, 0.120-wall DOM to retain the factory fold-forward function of the passenger seat. This allows access to a remarkably rust-free toolbox when our Bestop low-back vinyl seat is flipped forward. These seats match the vintage look of the ’56, provide plenty of comfort, and will last for years to come. The driver’s seat is mounted as far back as possible and is tied in to the 1-inch, 0.120-wall DOM spanning the tub. The driver’s seat doesn’t fold, but we can stash stuff under it since we are not going to use an under-seat tank.
