With the drivetrain sorted, we drove for a while, mostly when it was cold out so it wouldn’t overheat. As spring rolled around, we found ourselves with another Dauntless V-6 to swap. So we pulled the nose off the Jeepster for easy access and found 40-plus years of neglect that we just couldn’t leave alone. We cleaned, degreased, sanded, and repainted the frame and firewall. We also welded all the fender cracks, replaced rusted sheetmetal, and replaced broken studs in the body tub. Our simple weekend engine swap ended up taking about a month’s worth of weekends.
