All the time we spent under Piggy meant ogling the brownie-batter-like-muck plastered on all of the inspection and drain plugs on the drivetrain. That stuff takes a while to grow there and made us think that the gear oil in the T-18 transmission, Dana 20 T-case, and both the front and rear Dana 44 axles had been there since this thing was a GSA fleet vehicle. A few hours later all four components were filled with fresh gear oil. Another trick we figured out is that you can fill the transmission with a long flexible funnel through the hole for the T-case shifter. Just don’t spill any gear oil in the cab. Eww, stinky!
