Ford Ranger O2 Sensor
The UEGO controller works by analyzing readings provided by this included Bosch O2 sensor. Greg Nakano of AEM had to tap into our exhaust system upstream of the pre-cat to get the most accurate reading.
Ford Ranger Air Fuel Ratio Gauge
The UEGO gauge features an air/fuel ratio (AFR) reading, accurate to 0.1; 24 color-coated LED lights act as a needle, sweeping from green to red along the outside of the gauge, giving the driver instant feedback on the current AFR condition. It also brightens and dims automatically, according to ambient light.
Ford Ranger Boost Gauge
In addition, Greg installed our Auto Meter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite series boost/vacuum gauge so we can monitor blower output.
Ford Ranger Gauges Install
Both gauges were wired up and installed in Auto Meter's Ford Ranger dual-gauge pillar pod.
Ford Ranger Dyno View
With gauges installed, we headed off to JBA Racing Performance Center's dyno. With a previous run of 153 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels with just an intake, we were looking for some big gains. With the addition of JBA headers and exhaust, we previously saw those results rise to 161 hp and 188 lb-ft of torque.
Ford Ranger Dyno Tuning
After the first dyno pull, Doug Studdard of BamaChips Custom Tuning reviewed the data. He then illustrated the benefit of a dyno tune over the base tune, by squeezing out an additional 15 hp and 10 lb-ft of torque from the 4.0L V-6.
