1979 Chevrolet K20 Front Driver Side View

Super Chev
Oscar J. Valcarcel, of Westfield, New Jersey, owns this fine example of a '79 K20 Chevy pickup. To make room for the 35x16 Boggers, a 3-inch body lift and a 2-inch suspension lift were used. A bit of fender trimming was necessary to clear the big meats. Under the hood rests a rebuilt 350 V-8 equipped with a high-rise manifold and Flowmaster mufflers. The rest of the drivetrain is stock, with a four-speed manual transmission, NP205 transfer case, 14-bolt rear axle, and 10-bolt front axle. A custom bumper also graces the big Chevy.

1992 Toyota 4Runner Front Driver Side View

The Runner
Mike Mentzos, of Seattle, Washington, turned his '92 Toyota 4Runner into a cool and capable trail rig. First to get ditched was the stock IFS front suspension. That got replaced with a solid axle from an '85 'Yota. Pro Comp 4-inch springs and 2 1/2-inch coil spacers were used in the rear while 6-inch Skyjacker springs were used up front. An additional 1-inch body lift makes room for the 35-inch Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on 15x10 Mickey Thompson Challenger aluminum wheels. Detroit Lockers were put into both ends, along with 4.88 gears.

1998 Chevrolet Silverado Driver Side View

Clean Chevy
Sky Hellbusch and this '98 Chevy Silverado hail from Monterey, California. An 8-inch Whiplash suspension kit was the first item installed. It makes enough room for 35-inch Pro Comp Mud Terrains on 15x10 American Eagle 589 wheels. To help the V-8 push the Chevy down the road at a decent pace, a K&N air intake system was added, along with a Hypertech programmer and Flowmaster exhaust system. Inside the cab, MTX speaker boxes enhance the tunes.

 1977 Ford F 250 Passenger Side View

Old Ford
Bill Barding and his '77 Ford F-250 hail from Manito, Illinois. When Bill began thinking of ways to improve his truck, Job One involved replacing the original engine with a 460 V-8. Helping the big-block produce even more power is a Holley 650-cfm carb and a set of L&L headers. Backing up the engine is a four-speed manual and an NP205 transfer case. Finally, a 4-inch Skyjacker kit was put into place to provide space for a set of 38.5-inch Boggers that are regularly slathered in Illinois mud.

2001 Chevrolet Suburban Front Passenger Side View

The Wanderer
Roy Forbes, from Valle Vista, Arizona, regularly travels to remote locations, as this picture, taken at the perimeter of Nevada's infamous Area 51, indicates. He gets to locations like this in his '01 Chevy Suburban. Should he ever get stuck, a Warn XD9000i winch mounted on a Warn Trans4mer can pull him out. A Con-Ferr rack carries a second spare tire and a set of KC HID lights for nighttime missions. However, the real fun starts inside the Suburban. That's where Roy gets to play with more communication equipment than you'd find inside a Trident submarine.

1966 Ford F 250 Front Passenger Side View

Even Older Ford
Joseph Buchow of Albuquerque, New Mexico, owns this '66 Ford F-250. Under the hood rests a 390 V-8 that is equipped with a 600-cfm Edelbrock carb and a set of headers. A Dana 44 rests up front while a Dana 60 with a limited-slip is found out back. Power is split by a Dana 24 transfer case mated to an NP435 four-speed manual. The freshly painted truck rolls on 35-inch BFGoodrich tires. When it's time for recovery, Joseph relies on the 12,000-pound Ramsey winch that rests up front.
