November 2002 Reader's Rigs

2000 Jeep TJ Front Driver Side View

Retired TJ
Scott Schoeppner of Anaheim, California is retired, so he has plenty of time to enjoy his 2000 Jeep TJ. An extensive list of modifications includes a 4-inch Currie suspension system along with a Currie 1-inch body lift. Tires are 35-inch BFG Mud Terrains wrapped around 15x8 Center Line wheels. A set of 4.56 gears turns the tires while ARB Air Lockers in the rear Dana 44 and front Dana 30 axle provide traction. To eliminate vibration, the NP231 transfer case was fitted with a tailshaft conversion kit. If his rig becomes stuck, a Warn XD8000i winch is used to free it.

1978 Ford F 250 Crew Cab Front Passenger Side View

Big and Bad Crew Cab
Mike Speck of Sweet Home, Oregon has spent the last 2 1/2 years turning his '78 Ford F-250 Crew Cab into one sweet ride. First, the truck was stripped to the frame and stretched 16 inches to fit a longbed. Next, the 400M V-8 was yanked and replaced with a big old honkin' 460ci V-8. After that, the rig was lifted 12 inches to fit a set of 38 1/2-inch Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on 16.5-inch aluminum wheels. Finally, the whole body and the inside of the cab were taken down to the metal and fogged with a fresh coat of paint.

The Next Project
We love it when people get creative, and Dan Grossman's rig definitely caught our eye, as it is the only rig that looks the same from the front or the back. Simply listed as his next project, we are left to wonder when this rig will be up and running. Keep up the good work, Dan!
