SUPER DUTY
Mike Ortmanns of Chicago, Illinois owns this nice example of a 2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty. Suspension consists of a BDS 6-inch lift with dual front shocks. Bushwacker cutout flares were used to help clear the 39.5-inch Super Swamper TSLs on 16.5x9.75-inch Weld Sidewinder wheels. The front axle is a Dana 50 equipped with Dynatrac's Dana 60 upgrade kit, 5.38 gears, and an ARB Air Locker. Out back is the stock rear axle with 5.38 gears and another ARB Air Locker. Under the hood is a 5.4L V-8 that breathes through a K&N air filter and exhales through a Gibson exhaust.
JEEP NUMBER 6
This is the sixth Jeep that Jamie Fournier of Warren, Michigan has owned. Under the '85 CJ-7's hood rests a Chevy 350 mated to a Turbo 350 three-speed automatic trans connected to a Dana 300 T-case. It sends power to front and rear Dana 44s from a Scout. Lift and flex come from a 2 1/2-inch BDS suspension that clears 33-inch Super Swamper SSRs. A custom four-point cage, along with Corbeau seats and RJS four-point belts, keep the occupants safe.
ISLANDER IN MICHIGAN
Gary Bonk of Howell, Michigan took his Islander edition '90 Jeep Wrangler and turned it into what you see here. Part of the transformation took place with the installation of a 4.5-inch Rubicon Express Extreme Duty lift. It clears 32x11.50-inch BFG Mud-Terrains on 15x8 steel wheels. A 3-inch body lift was also grafted into position for clearance. The interior is made comfortable with the addition of aftermarket seats and a Kenwood CD player.
BEAUTY OF A BLAZER
Robert Allen of Prineville, Oregon did a beautiful job of restoring his '71 Chevy Blazer. The body was stripped, disassembled and painted by Robert himself. A front Dana 60 axle with a Detroit Locker found its way under the Blazer, while a 14-bolt with another Detroit is found out back. A 4-inch lift is used to clear 255/85R16 Wild Country TXRs on 16x8 Weld Typhoons. Powering the ultra-clean Blazer is a 402 V-8 big-block that hands power off to a TH350 transmission and NP205 transfer case.
TWO TO MAKE ONE
Marcus Greco of Rockledge, Florida says his '78 Chevy Blazer took two years, and two donor Blazers, to build. Under the finished project is a 6-inch lift along with a 3-inch body lift. It clears 39.5-inch Super Swampers on steel wheels. Power comes from a 350 V-8 that is equipped with an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, headers and a Holley 600-cfm carburetor. Finally the donor body was sanded and its dents repaired, and was shot with a fresh coat of yellow paint.
FOMOCO
A fine example of a '75 Ford F-250 is this one built by Bob Agans of Frankenmuth, Michigan. Power comes from a built 428 V-8 that feeds a C6 three-speed automatic and a divorced NP205. A Dana 44 axle rests up front while a Dana 60 can be found out back. Screwed to those axles are 39.5-inch Super Swamper Boggers on steel wheels. Clearance for the big meats comes from an 8-inch Skyjacker lift and a 3-inch body lift. The paint is Dodge Viper yellow with graphics.
FLORIDA 4x4
Jacksonville, Florida resident Gardner Colby first slapped a 6-inch Pro Comp kit onto his '98 Chevy Silverado. Next came a 3-inch body lift to clear the 38-inch Parnelli Jones Dirt Gripz on Weld Racing wheels. Flame graphics were then painted onto the body along with custom flame window tinting. Other exterior mods include a triple/double chrome roll bar along with a set of chrome nerf bars. Finally, plenty of lights were put into place for night runs.
TOY TERROR
Daniel Benoit's trail rig started its life out as a '84 Toyota two-wheel drive and quickly got turned into a capable four-wheel drive. Up front are leaf springs from a Wagoneer and a Dana 44 axle with an ARB and 5.38 gears. Suspension out back consists of long Chevy leaf springs attached to a 12-bolt axle with 5.38 gears and a spool. A set of 38-inch Swampers on 15x12 Rock Crawler wheels provides traction. Lots of gear reduction from dual Marlin cases makes it easy for the Toy to creep around the trails near its hometown of Auburn, California.
