 Jeep Passenger Side View

Got Winch?
Young Casey Hayman of Pollock Pines, California, found out exactly why it's a good idea to 'wheel in areas where others frequently pass through. A quick hand from another passing 'wheeler kept Casey from having to hike several miles for help. His Jeep is nicely equipped with 5 1/2 inches of lift, a spring-over, and a Dana 44 rear axle. Both front and rear axles feature Detroit Lockers and 4.88:1 gearing.

Underneath, a Ford 9-inch axle holds down the rear, and a Dana 44 front axle is equipped with Mile Marker hubs. The truck features a Hurricane L-226 flathead, a Warn overdrive unit, and a pair of Dana axles; the rear is a 44, the front is a 25, and both have limited-slips and 4.27:1 gearing. Mike runs chains up front when the snowdrifts get deep. A trusty Warn 8500 winch is on stand-by just in case.
