 Jeep Passenger Side View

Got Winch?
Young Casey Hayman of Pollock Pines, California, found out exactly why it's a good idea to 'wheel in areas where others frequently pass through. A quick hand from another passing 'wheeler kept Casey from having to hike several miles for help. His Jeep is nicely equipped with 5 1/2 inches of lift, a spring-over, and a Dana 44 rear axle. Both front and rear axles feature Detroit Lockers and 4.88:1 gearing.

A Healthy Dose
Dr. Charles McMullin of Linn Creek, Missouri, loves to get away from the office in his '74 Ford Bronco, which is equipped with a 302 V-8, an NP435 transmission, and a Dana 20 transfer case. Underneath, a Ford 9-inch axle holds down the rear, and a Dana 44 front axle is equipped with Mile Marker hubs. A 31?2-inch suspension lift combined with a 2-inch body lift makes room for 33x12.50 General Grabber tires mounted on aluminum wheels.

Cabin Fever
Mike Castro is a resident of California's Mojave Desert, near Deep Creek Hot Springs. He aids in search-and-rescue operations for the Forest Service with his '61 Willys-Overland utility wagon. The truck features a Hurricane L-226 flathead, a Warn overdrive unit, and a pair of Dana axles; the rear is a 44, the front is a 25, and both have limited-slips and 4.27:1 gearing. Mike runs chains up front when the snowdrifts get deep. A trusty Warn 8500 winch is on stand-by just in case.
