Austin's "Real Deal" Titan
This 2004 Nissan Titan belongs to Austin Marriage of Port Orchard, Washington. It sports an OEM rear electronic locker that has been modified to lock up on demand in any mode. The engine is stock, though the suspension includes components from several manufacturers. Originally, Austin started with a 6-inch Fabtech lift. From there, he added a 2-inch spacer to the front from United Prerunners and 4-inch blocks from CST in the back. A Deaver spring-pack upgrade has also been added. Additionally, Austin has Bilstein shocks in the rear, Fox coilovers in the front, and traction bars from United Prerunners to keep the rear axle from wrapping up. The front sway bar has been removed for better articulation. For tires, Austin chose a set of 37-inch BFG Mud-Terrains mounted on 17-inch MB Motoring Rocker wheels. Austin plans to add an electronic sway-bar disconnect, a front receiver hitch, and a cradle-mounted Warn winch.
Wicked Wheeling at Work
This 637 Caterpillar Scraper belongs to the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community Landfill. At the wheel is one of the landfill's more chancy operators. With all four tires spinning, this monster mover forded its way through a 6-foot-deep catch basin. If not for turbocharged diesel engines at each axle and enormous 5-foot-tall Goodyear tires, this may have been one of the worst stucks of all time. Frank Marino claims it's not uncommon for an operator to roll one of these mammoth rigs on its side during off-camber maneuvers. We only have one question ... Frank: you hiring?
Yakima Super Duty
Michael Parsley loves wheeling his 1999 Ford F-250 Lariat around the snow-covered mountains near his hometown of Yakima, Washington. The rig has a 7.3L Power Stroke oil-burner. Michael added an AFE Stage 2 Magnum Force intake to improve throttle response, as well as a SuperChips power programmer. For traction purposes, Michael runs 42-inch Super Swamper TSLs mounted on Weld Racing aluminum wheels. The truck rides high on a 10-inch Fabtech Suspension lift. Michael installed an Attitude Performance transfer-case crossmember indexing kit, and a front driveline spacer from Train's 4x4 to get the front driveline to line up. Other add-ons include a BuckStop front bumper with tow hooks and winch mount.
Jealousy
Mike Holloway of Hollister, California, challenged us to guess where he took his brand-new 2005 Dodge Power Wagon 'wheeling first. We're not cretins, but we'd suspect Mike follows Four Wheeler pretty closely. After all, he spent his cash on our editorial dream truck, and he's not afraid to use it for more than just daily-driver/tow-rig purposes. In fact, he told us he still had dealer plates on it when this photo was taken. Way to go, Mike!
New York City? Get a Rope
Dennis Janson of New York, New York sent in this shot of his 2000 TJ while running with the Jeepers Jamboree Rubicon trail ride. Although Dennis lives in the Big Apple, he says he still takes the Jeep all the way to Georgetown each summer to conquer the 'Con. Dennis runs a 3-inch Teraflex suspension system, a set of 35-inch Interco TrXus tires, a Warn rear bumper, a Kilby fuel-tank skidplate, and a rollcage by Rock Hard Parts. Other goodies include a rear Dana 44 loaded with Superior axleshafts and a Teraflex T-locker, while the front Dana 30 sports Superior shafts and a Detroit Truetrac. The 4.0L engine gets help from a Banks header connected to a Borla cat-back exhaust system.
Super Taco
This 2002 Toyota Tacoma belongs to Shane Skinner of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Shane lifted the pickup 6 inches via a Fabtech suspension lift enabling him to fit 35-inch BFGs under it. Trailready bead locks and a TRD electric rear locker ensure ample traction, while a Safari snorkel keeps the intake air cool dry for the TRD supercharger. A custom front-to-back rollcage protects occupants while the Warn 8274 is on standby should any lesser vehicles need a hand. Custom front and rear bumpers give this Tacoma a unique look while adding real-world functionality. Nice rig, Shane.
