Custom Rubicon Spyder

Bryan Ruocco, a chiropractor from Marblehead, Massachusetts, purchased this '03 TJ Rubicon to assure his wife that he wouldn't need to spend any more late nights wrenching in the garage. It has an AEM intake system, a Poison Spyder Customs (PSC) Trail Cage, and MasterCraft Rubicon Suspension Seats. Tuffy Security Products in all the applicable areas provide safe zones for all Bryan's trail gizmos, while PSC Tube Fenders and Trail Corners protect the exterior sheetmetal. Both front and rear bumpers were replaced with PSC Stingers. The front bumper features a Warn 9000xi winch and PIAA auxiliary lighting. The suspension is a combination of Rubicon Express, Currie, and Full Traction components. Sitting 4 inches above stock, this TJ looks like the perfect daily driver/trail rig.

Out The Door

Mike Strickland of BigCountryOff-Road.com sent in this shot of his '70 Ford Bronco just before catching a flight to Southwest Asia for a military reassignment mission. His Bronco sports a '90 Mustang 5.0L powerplant and a built drivetrain. The rig sits 4 inches above stock to make room for 35-inch Boggers. We hope Mike returns home safely with a bank account full of cash to spend on his lonely trail rig.

Short-N-Sweet

Roham Pahlavan's '85 Toyota 4Runner sports 35-inch Krawlers, dual transfer cases, 5.29:1 gears, and a 3.0L V-6 out of a '90 4Runner. King coilover shocks together with a custom four-link front and rear suspension make this trail toy unstoppable in the dirt. Meanwhile a Warn 9500HS mounted inside an ARB bumper are on standby in case a fellow wheeler should clog the trail. We almost forgot to mention that the rig was bobbed 10 inches to aid in maneuverability on the trails near Roham's Calgary, Alberta, Canada, hometown. Nice work, Roham!

Deep Freeze K10

This '79 GMC K10 is basically stock except for a GM crate engine, custom flatbed, and other minor upgrades. Its owner, Dan Burns of Laurel, Montana, drives the vehicle every day for work and play. He installed 3-inch add-a-leaves front and rear to clear 33-inch Cooper STTs mounted to black Rockcrawler wheels. Axles remain stock for now, though Dan claims to have plans to upgrade to 1-ton axles soon.

Centerville Supercharger

Jacob Lowry of Centerville, Ohio, drives this '00 Silverado Z71. It features a Whipple-supercharged 5.3L engine that gets help from a Flowmaster dual exhaust system and Airaid air intake. The truck is shown here at one of Jacob's favorite "secret" wheeling spots near his hometown. Jacob says the rig runs low 14s in the 11/44-mile with 285/75/16 tires.

Island Cruiser

This '99 Ford E-250 4x4 van belongs to Mario Yano of Pearl City, Hawaii. It sports Goodyear A/T tires, Mickey Thompson wheels, and Powertrax lockers front and rear. Mario uses this van mainly for fishing and camping excursions where he sometimes has to tow a small boat. For the camping part, Mario installed a 28-gallon water tank, a microwave oven, and a TV for entertainment. The front bumper was hand-built for him by a friend, and powdercoated by Sunset Coatings in Pearl City. Nice rig, Mario-mind if we come along next time?

Drool Factor

Tye McKee of Arroyo Grande, California, drives this '02 3/4-ton Dodge Ram Quad Cab. Thanks to the awesome torque of the Cummins 24-valve engine, Tye makes short work of hillclimbs and sand dunes while still averaging 19 mpg. The pickup came equipped with a five-speed manual transmission and 3.55:1 gearing. Tye added such goodies as a 3-inch suspension lift, a 4-inch AFE Exhaust system, a BHAF (big honkin' air filter), Auto Meter Z-series Gauges, a Dr. Performance Predator Fueling Box, Stage 1 injectors (also from Dr. Performance), and a FASS II fuel pump. Nice Ram, Tye! We only hope we don't cross paths at the dragstrip.

Norway? No way!

This fullsize Jeep sports coils and Dana 60s front and rear. The only difference is that this Jeep is from Levanger, Norway, and it belongs to Frank Almaas, a native to Norway's hard-core 'wheeling scene. Frank is an avid Four Wheeler subscriber who loves to tackle the toughest trails Norway has to offer. The rig has PSC steering components and 36-inch Super Swampers. It's nice to see Four Wheeler can be found so far from home.
