Old Blue
Jacob Elliott of Davis, Oklahoma, drives this '62 Chevrolet truck. It has a 327 V-8 with an Edelbrock Performer carburetor and intake manifold. Other alterations include a K&N air filter, Crane cam, 3-inch Dynomax headers, dual 40-series Flowmasters, and 31-inch Uniroyal Laredo RV Tires mounted to American Racing classic wheels. Jacob says this picture was taken while 'wheelin at Lake Murray State Park in nearby Ardmore, Oklahoma. We're glad to see Jacob's Chevy still out there gettin 'r done!
Oddball Out-Pacer
Craig Bondy from Ponoka, Alberta, Canada, sent in this picture of his unique '78 AMC Pacer on a '75 Cherokee frame. Before you laugh about this oddball, realize it has a 500hp/500-lb-ft 401 V-8 lurking under the hood. From there, torque goes through a slightly warmed-over 727 automatic with a Mopar Performance deep-sump pan, a TCI 3,500-rpm stall converter, and two B&M tranny coolers, each with their own fan. An NP205 transfer case splits power to a Dana 60 in front with 4.56:1 gearing and a spool. In the rear, this Pacer features a military-spec full-float 14-bolt with 4.56:1 gearing and a Detroit Locker. The wheelbase (from the Cherokee) has been stretched by 4 inches in the rear and 2 inches in the front. Craig also removed 14 inches of overhanging frame from the rear. The spring-over suspension, with inverted rear shackles, is comprised of custom 2-inch-lift springs at all four corners, each made up of only two leaves in each pack, but each leaf is made out of 71/416-inch stock spring steel. Other mods include custom-built steel wheels, 46-inch agricultural flotation tires, and a homemade hydro-assist steering setup.
Seashore 'Burban
This '97 GMC Suburban is owned by Jake Cummins of Corpus Christi, Texas. At age 15, this is Jake's first vehicle. Not bad, if you ask us. The rig is lifted 6 inches by Fabtech, and the 35-inch Cooper Discoverer STTs are wrapped around 15-inch polished-aluminum wheels. Other mods include a pair of Flowmaster mufflers and a roof rack. Jake claims he uses his Sub to access the "good spots" for surf fishing all over the Gulf of Mexico. Cool rig, Jake-let us know when you want to take it south of the border to do some real fishing.
No Mall Cruiser
Phil Day of Corpus Christi, Texas, drives this '03 Hummer H2 daily. Phil added 38-inch Toyo Open Country MTs, a front Eaton E-Locker, a 6-inch Fabtech suspension lift, Fabtech HD tie rods, a Flowmaster exhaust system, and some custom skidplates to help protect the truck's undercarriage. Way to disprove all the H2 pavement-only myths, Phil!
On the go in Okinawa
Matthew Richtercorson is a Marine currently stationed at Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. This is his '90 Nissan Pathfinder. Modifications include a 3-inch body lift, 32-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrains, a K&N air intake, a custom front bumper, and a custom steering wheel. Future mods include a 3-inch suspension lift, a heavy-duty tie-rod kit, lockers, and some more engine mods.
