Ryan Wilson of Beaufort, South Carolina, drives this Cummins-equipped '96 Dodge Ram 2500 every day, and when the opportunity arises for a fun-filled off-highway jaunt, Ryan takes it. The oil-burner gets help from a K&N Air Filter and Magnaflow exhaust. The truck rides on a 5-inch Skyjacker suspension lift, and a set of 35-inch BFG All-Terrains provide traction. Nice truck, Ryan-we're glad to see you actually use it.
This '84 Toyota SR5 belongs to Navin Reddy, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The stock 22R motor has been given a mild cam and header to help spin 33-inch Super Swampers. Navin also added a snorkel, Bushwacker fender flares, and a 4-inch suspension lift. This picture was taken on Saddle Hill on the trails surrounding Sexsmith, Alberta.
These two armored Hummers got bogged down crossing a farmer's field in a rural area near Muqdadiyah, Iraq. Sergeant David Campeau claimed it took their crew nearly 8 hours to recover the stuck pair. He said the recovery was assisted by two Bradley Fighting Vehicles, both of which also got stuck in the process.
Steve Ortner of Belleville, Michigan, ran his '80 Chevy pickup in the Bloomsburg Jamboree Tough Truck competition earlier this year. Steve says he completely went through this truck and upgraded everything. Highlights include a 502 big-block, a fully hydraulic steering system, a trussed Dana 44 up front, a 14-bolt in the rear, Deaver springs, and 2.5-inch King shocks. Nice rig, Steve!
Art Lilley of Fayetteville, North Carolina, sent in this shot of his '87 Suzuki Samurai. It has a fuel-injected 1.6L engine with a K&N Filter, a Ford Racing high-pressure fuel pump, a GM alternator, and a 2-inch exhaust. The drivetrain features a Rocky Road Outfitters 6:1 transfer case with mega-grip arms and poly mounts. Next, a Trail Tough 1.8:1 Rock Block takes the gearing down even further. The torque is sent out to a pair of Toyota axles with 4.10:1 gears and Lock-Right lockers. The steering consists of a Sky Manufacturing Hi-Steer conversion with a PSC hydro-assist kit. The suspension features a Rocky Road coil conversion front and rear. Doetsch Tech 8000 series shocks control damping. Art runs 35-inch BFG Krawlers mounted to Allied Rockathon bead-locked wheels. Other mods include a ShrockWorks front winch bumper, a Rocky Road rear Crawler bumper, a ShrockWorks gas-tank skidplate, a pair of custom rock sliders, and finally, a custom full interior 'cage by Rock 4x Fabrications.
This '93 Chevy S-10 belongs to Eric Pardy of Evans Mills, New York. The truck features 35-inch Pro Comp Mud Terrains mounted to 15-inch black steel wheels. A Solis front axle swap using a Dana 44 from a '72 Ford Bronco helps Eric achieve a custom 12-inch lift. The engine remains the stock V-6 for now because Eric claims everything works so well. However, he keeps thinking about swapping in a V-8.
