When buying an ATV, there are many factors that have to be considered. One of the most important decisions to make is whether you want two- or four-wheel drive. In the past, the two-wheel drive ATVs have been seen as toys, and the four-wheel drives as work machines. Yamaha has clouded this issue. The Bear Tracker, built in Newnan, Georgia, is its beefiest two-wheel drive ATV. It replaces the popular TImberwolf, yet has more modifications and engine upgrades than that previous model. Yamaha's newest ATV is for the rider who wants a vehicle that can do serious work, yet may not need the more-costly four-wheel-drive model to get the job done. It also happens to be a lot of fun to ride.
The Bear Tracker has a box tube frame and, according to the manufacturer, the most durable powdercoating in the industry. The undercarriage is smooth, to prevent components from getting snagged on rocks. The Bear Tracker also has an impact-resistant front guard, front and rear fender-width body panels, and two racks that can hold a total payload of up to 165 pounds. The vehicle comes with a standard towing hitch as well, making hauling possible.
The engine is no slouch, either. The 229cc, four-stroke single keeps this 448-pound ATV moving. The Bear Tracker comes with an easy-to-operate five-speed automatic clutch (with Reverse) that offers plenty of control of the vehicle.
While there is only a rear axle in this ATV, Yamaha's swingarm suspension offers 5.3 inches of travel in the rear, and nearly five inches of travel in the front. The Macpherson strut suspension in front is comfortable enough to allow the driver to do chores all day. In addition, the wheelbase is over 46 inches, the largest in its class.
The Bear Tracker is on sale now and is built for all the work you need to do, as well as all the fun you want. For more information, contact your local Yamaha dealer, or visit Yamaha's Website at: www.yamaha-motor.com.
