First whats the best way to take the hard top off? Also how do i get the windshield and doors down and off? Also we have had some rain so me and my cousin went out to do some mudding. Figured it was semi clean and the car lot is detailing it tomorrow for free so why make it easy on them. Well i went over a 1 foot to 2 foot bumb and got stuck it was a humb on the ditch of a road. I figured it bottomed out but it had not as i could run my hand under the oil pan though the grass was touching so it was close. My front driver wheel was in air and it was spinning the tires. It may have been sitting on the driver axle but with three tires firmly on the ground and low lock it should not have got stuck i would think. SO i need some good off road/ road worthly tires. I want something i could drive to say florida but go offroading and alittle mud nothing serious just some light to med. stuff. I was thinking the thornbirds as a few friends recommended them on my 85 3/4 ton. Are they a good offroad/road tire. I called the local tire barn and he recommend mud kings as there good on the road and good in mud and general offroad. What would your recommend? I can deal with some noise if that is a issue with the thornbird just not sure if there ok on the interstate at high speeds will they shake? But even with dealing with the road need i do not want to get stuck. Also how big of a tire can i use on the stock wrangler without clearence issues.

We're starting to plan for Moab 2010. the dates are being sorted out now but it's been held the week after the Jeep Jamboree, which would be April 17-24 but we're also looking at the first week of May. So if anyone wants to come, have a great time wheelin' and experience Moab before it gets shut down (as it's part of a new wilderness bill) then post up. Also, we run all kinds of trails generally from 5-10 (on a scale of 1-10) so a rig with lockers and all the skid plates would be ok. And to put things in context for those that are wondering about carnage, I did more damage in 2 days on the Rubicon than a whole week at Moab.

I got a 14" to put on my 2002 Escalade EXT. I was told by Karie at Whiplash that the kit and everything I got from them would be complete enough to work with my truck and its computer system, the level ride, the stabilitrac etc. However, the parts were not complete and I had to call her every day for two weeks to get the rest of my parts. The first shop said they would not even put the poorly made and un-safe kit on my truck even if all the parts were there. The second shop said the exact same thing and both said they heard nothing but bad things about Whiplash, from poor customer service, absolutely no return policy, bad welds, incomplete, missing bushings, jam nuts etc. etc. Once they get your money your screwed, you owen it even if you cant use it. I was defrauded by Karie and by her husband Shawn. No shop in the state of Illinois will even touch this stuff and five shops even the two that Karie recomended refuse to install it on my Ecslade. For one thing, it will throw off all kinds of codes and the truck will have all sorts of legal issues regarding every day street use of which I told Karie I was using it for. She sold it to me anyway. Whiplash (Karie) is a lier and only wants the money and told me after I wanted to return the kit for a refund she said they have no money to give me and my money was gone and I am stuck with it. DONT USE THEM EVER! I wound up using a 6" BDS lift kit and instead of 40" tires I put on 35" Toyo O.C MT's on 20's. The 6" BDS was the ONLY suspension I was told by both shops, would work with my Caddy and not destroy the factory shocks and level ride etc. I would imagine that knowone wants my unused 14" kit now? If you want it, email me at ginsberghomes@comcast.net SCOTT

It is equipped with factory differentials (9.25 limited slip out back and open 44 up front), factory NV 3500 5-speed, and factory NP 231. The only mod that I have done to any of that is the addition of a 4X4 posi-lok kit when my factory vacuum disconnect failed a few years back. Recently, I had to replace the cable for the posi-lok after it got melted (long story, now fixed). By the time I got around to changing the cable, I drove the rig all summer (probably a couple thousand miles) without one (2wd only). Upon installing the new cable, I now notice that when I try to turn in 4wd (either direction on my gravel driveway) I get a loud metallic "clang" in my drive-train. This occurs with just a modest amount of turn (probably 30% from center to lock on the steering wheel). When the noise occurs, I can feel the steering wheel twitch. I am at a bit of a loss what is causing the problem and it sounds terrible, much beyond any normal binding for the rig (I've owned it since factory new). I have removed the axle disconnect housing and verified proper installation of the Posi-lok, cable, fork, etc. I have no reason to believe anything is wrong here. I checked all of the U-Joints from the T-Case forward for any signs of slop and found none (the steering U-joints on both axle shafts were replaced about a year ago and have very few miles on them) I jacked up one each front wheel individually. With either wheel off the ground and the T-Case in ANY position, including neutral, I can only turn the wheel a partial turn. This raised a red-flag to me since my front differential is open. Next, I got the whole truck blocked up, engaged 4wd and let it run in gear. Both back wheels would spin, as expected for a functional limited slip. On the front, one wheel was spinning, as expected for the open diff. When I stuck a 2X4 under the spinning wheel, it would stop and the other wheel would begin spinning. This leads me to believe that my front open diff is functioning properly. I also noted that with all 4 wheels off the ground and the rig running in 4wd, I could turn the steering wheel lock to lock with no sign of the binding/ noise. I’m at a loss what the problem is at this point and have no idea how to proceed with the diagnosis. Anyone have any suggestions? (sorry for such a long winded post)
