We've seen all kinds of ideas pass through the Cheap Tricks World Headquarters over the years on how to hang up extension cords, air hoses, and other long stringy things in the shop. One of the easiest and simplest (and the one we use ourselves) comes from Terry Schleicher in Greenwood, Indiana. Just purchase those cheap plastic or metal garden hose hangers you can find at any yard-and-garden supply store. They come with a slot to easily hang them and are strong enough to support all kinds of hoses, cables, wires, cords, chains, and so on. Thanks for keeping the place neat and tidy, Terry.
Nick Kuzmik plows snow around his Airmont, New York home. But he doesn't do it year 'round and he wanted an easy way to mount a pair of auxiliary backup lights on the rear of his '89 Dodge pickup plow rig. Requirements were that the installation needed no tools, be waterproof, and be quickly installed or removed while wearing bulky winter gloves. Nick mounted the lights to pieces of wood that drop into the stake pockets in the Dodge's bed. Clean and simple, but the real 'Trick was getting power to them. Nick simply wired them through a male trailer-light plug that connects to the truck's existing female plug. Turn on the trucks headlights and voila, instant extra lights at the back of the truck. We figure this 'Trick could be used for many other temporary 12-volt needs. Just don't overload the trailer wiring on your truck! Thanks for shedding a light on this idea, Nick.
