Heres a better view of the Auburn limited slip. The springs you see inside the case apply pressure to cone clutches that are attached to beveled side gears. As torque is transmitted to the axleshafts through the side gears, the springs seat the cones into the case to resist differentiation. When torque decreases (when cornering, for example), the gear-separating forces also decrease, allowing the shafts to turn at different speeds. View Related Article
