Finally, it's the weekend. Pull the top off your Jeep, and pile in your camping gear, ice chest, an extra case of beverage, and all the last-minute stuff you probably won't need, but hey, two days in the mountains-you never know. You arrive at the coffee shop, where everyone is supposed to meet a little early, so there's time to enjoy the breakfast special. Parking is not in view of where you will be sitting, and that's a problem, 'cuz you really don't want to leave all your gear and food wide open to anyone or thing that might have quick fingers.
What to do? Haul it all inside, right? Why take a chance on getting ripped off? Now, there is a better way. Covercraft has introduced their Qwik Cover, available for 1992-2008 two-door and four-door Jeep Wranglers. The Qwik Cover stores in its built-in breathable storage bag that attaches to the stock rear-window anchor bar. In less time than it takes to read this, you simply open the Velcro closure and pull the cover over the rollbar, and down around and over the window. The rear sides have soft tabs that slide under the groove on the fender, and an adjustable shock cord secures the cover. It's not a locking hard top, but it definitely keeps the curious eyes out, and very often, out of sight is out of mind.

We recently had a chance to try out the Qwik Cover on a 2005 Wrangler. There was a little bit of a snag, since this Jeep had a Kargo Master Congo Cage Roof Rack installed. The Kargo Master is a very stout piece of equipment. Its 500-pound cargo capacity makes it capable of carrying heavy loads over difficult terrain. Part of its strength comes from the stout mounting system that bolts to heavy-duty brackets on the lower windshield pillar. It can be disconnected from those front mounts and pivoted back over the vehicle to allow a hard top to be installed without taking the whole rack off.
Our problem was that those big front support bars were in the way for the Qwik Cover to fit under the lower lip of the windshield. Seeing our problem, Covercraft, well known for their ability to design custom covers, devised an adjustable Velcro strap that goes around the Kargo Master Rack's front supports and secures it in place. Problem solved.
We tested the modified cover and found it was still a perfect fit. With one person on each side, the Qwik Cover installs in less than a minute. It's a great idea for clean summer travel, no matter where you go, and it provides much-needed security when you park at the crowded mall to pick up some last-minute supplies.
