The pinion from a very tall 2.76:1 ratio (left) has much more tooth contact than the 5.38 gear on the right and will be stronger. If you need the really tall gears, an upgrade to an axle with a larger ring gear will allow the pinion teeth to be larger and more robust, even at the same ratio. View Related Article
