Ten questions for Top Truck Challenge 2015 competitor Daniel Osterhout of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, driving a ’70 GMC Jimmy.
Q. Why do you want to compete in TTC?
A. “I eat breath and sleep building/wheeling, and TTC is a challenge that I have always wanted to take on.”
Q. What TTC event are you most looking forward to?
A. “Coal Chute because it looks challenging to driving skill and vehicle limitation.”
Q. What TTC event are you not looking forward to?
A. “Mud Pit because that’s the kind of thing I wheel in now.”
Q. Are you making changes to your rig before TTC?
A. “Not really. I spend every winter modifying for next season’s wheeling. Guess it depends on what breaks before TTC, eh!”
Q. Will you and your spotter/co-driver be training for TTC?
A. “Yes, we switched to light beer! We will be doing some trail stuff to make sure everything is working as it should.”
Q. If you could go wheeling anywhere in the world, where would that be?
A. “Hmmm…I think Alaska would be a blast because of its wide open spaces and real rough terrain.”
Q. What's playing on your iPod/CD player right now?
A. “Zak Brown Band.”
Q. What was the last movie you watched?
A. “Lord of the Rings—the last one! I hope.”
Q. Do you have an aversion to poison oak, earthquakes, or a submerged engine?
A. “Nope, only Ryan trying to see how high the golf cart can jump at 4 a.m. and then wedging it under a trailer. But seriously, just very appreciative to get the chance for me and all the people that have supported me and my truck over the years to enter Top Truck Challenge and have a blast.”
Q. What's one thing people should know about you?
A. “I have no other hobbies but fabricating and four-wheeling. Just ask my fiancée.”
