Ten questions for Top Truck Challenge 2015 competitor Tyler Skopliak from Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada, driving a ’78 Ford F-150.
Q. Why do you want to compete in TTC?
A. “As far back as I can remember (back to the VHS tapes), I've wanted to be a part of this event. Then in 2013 I made it into TTC as a spotter in my brother Nolan’s K5 Blazer. Best time of my life. It was great being on that end of things, but as a driver, it's going to be NUTS!”
Q. What TTC event are you most looking forward to?
A. “The Coal Chute for sure! Back in TTC 2013, we had a winch cable snap 10 feet into this event and took last place to the running rigs. My brother and I have a personal beef with this event.”
Q. What TTC event are you not looking forward to?
A. “The Hill Climb. I ran up the hill from about the midway point back at TTC 2013 and almost died. So I personally know how steep it is, and it’s pretty much vertical.”
Q. Are you making changes to your rig before TTC?
A. “Nothing. She's been ready since the first day she stretched her legs from the shop.”
Q. Will you and your spotter/co-driver be training for TTC?
A. “Oh, for sure: 355ml curls.”
Q. If you could go wheeling anywhere in the world, where would that be?
A. “The Hammers 110 percent. Gone there a few times now during King of the Hammers. Those trails are beyond sick! So many trails. So much variety. Whether you're in a ‘yota, Suzuki, a buggy, or Ultra 4 rig, there are trails ready to test your skills.”
Q. What's playing on your iPod/CD player right now?
A. “Pantera, ‘Cowboys from Hell.’”
Q. What was the last movie you watched?
A. “Furious 7.”
Q. Do you have an aversion to poison oak, earthquakes, or a submerged engine?
A. “Been there, done that, doing it again.”
Q. What's one thing people should know about you?
A. “I HATE MUD!”
