Top Truck Challenge 2015: A Sneak Peek At The Hill ClimbPosted in Top Truck Challenge: 2015 on May 26, 2015
The Hill Climb is the fifth of the seven events that comprise the Top Truck Challenge (TTC) repertoire. Our Hill Climb ain’t your average hillclimb. We construct it in a way that makes traveling every forward inch feel like the most rewarding experience on the planet. It’s approximately 600 feet in length and is comprised of massive amounts of loose dirt on an average angle of approximately 60 degrees. The course twists and turns, too. But that’s not all. We dig holes along the way to make it even tougher. This event rewards drivers who can think on-the-fly while pinned back in their seat.
The rules are simple. Competitors have five minutes to climb the hill. During that time they can back up, winch, or stop to admire the view. What they can’t do is deviate from the course or violate safety rules. Those who complete the climb are ranked by their elapsed time. Those who do not complete the climb are ranked by how far they traveled.
Most of the time the drivers can see only sky as they peer through the windshield. Momentum is your bestest buddy in the whole wide world during this event, but momentum can be elusive.
