Did Four Wheeler Magazine Kill Top Truck Challenge?Posted in Top Truck Challenge: 2015 on October 15, 2015
You’ve no doubt heard by now that changes are coming to Four Wheeler’s flagship event, Top Truck Challenge. There are a lot of rumors floating around ranging from we’ve sold off the event to other media outlets to we’re killing it off completely to we’re simply moving the event location. Let’s set the record straight.
Top Truck Challenge is not going away or getting sold off, but it does have to change to accommodate the times. We’ve delayed the inevitable for as long as we could, but as it stood Top Truck Challenge was the event equivalent of a smoke-belching, coal-fired dreadnought in a sea of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. It was an awesome spectacle to behold, but ultimately we needed to make the event more efficient and more relevant.
So what will the 2016 TTC look like? We’ll hold all the minute details for a little while longer, but let’s tease you with a few possibilities. What if we were to invite a few lucky folks a year to join us on an epic off-roading trip? What if we set up shop time and parts for invitees to build their vehicles to undergo a series of challenges? What if you were responsible for selecting the right parts for your build, spinning the wrenches and squirting the welding wire, making any in-field repairs, and driving and surviving through the whole thing? Think Junkyard Wars meets an overlanding travel expedition and you’ll start to get the picture.
