At last! After two near misses with victory at the Baja 1000 and at the Laughlin Desert Challenge, John Holmes and Mark Landersman were able to pull off a Class 7sx win in convincing style. They brought their Goodyear-shod Ranger to the finish nearly a half-hour ahead of their nearest class competitor. Recent updates to the truck (since the '05 Baja 1000) include a Class 7sx-legal 4.0 SOHC V-6, a bigger radiator, and a set of Baja Bushings in the eyes of the Deaver leaf packs. Holmes's first off-road race was the 1982 San Felipe 250, in which he shared a Class 5/1600 win with Scot Jones. Between 1982 and 2006, John has watched San Felipe change. "The town just gets bigger, and the course just gets rougher over the years."
