Wow, what a trip! The 10th annual Ultimate Adventure is over, and we present it to you in the pages of this issue and the next. The trip was a huge success. We hope you enjoy the coverage and invite you to check out more on our website, You can see more photos and exclusive outtakes of our trip. Also, check to see when the Ultimate Adventure DVD will be available, as it will make a perfect holiday gift.

After 10 years of producing the Ultimate Adventure, we know of only one similar hardcore event, the Ohio Adventure produced by Ralph Painter from Painted Rock Adventures (, which we visited on UA 2009. While other events similar to ours have been launched in the last few years, none has been of the caliber of the UA, with its unmatched intensity of wheeling, camping, and driving. While we may wonder why not, it is more important to lay down the challenge to you, the reader, to come up with your own event. If it is up to snuff, you can bet we'll want to cover it.

Of course, we don't want to see another manufacturer's trail trip or a wallet-job ride where you stay in hotels every night, as that isn't the core audience of this magazine. While those events are fine, we are looking for real-world rigs and real readers doing their thing under harsh conditions-without a chopper airlifting your ride out of a tough obstacle. In other words, we are looking for events like our own Ultimate Adventure.

The UA this year had a record seven readers participating, and all of the sponsors were once readers themselves before they got into the industry. We wheeled hard, broke harder, and fixed stuff on the trail this UA to an unprecedented degree, and we want to cover you guys doing the same thing on your trips.

Can you and your group measure up to the challenge? Write us with your plan for your own adventure. Send it to by the end of next month so we can make travel plans. Make sure you include enough details so we can determine if it's the right event for us to cover. You may see your own adventure in the pages of 4WOR!
