Ultimate Adventure 2012: Getting There And Day OnePosted in Ultimate Adventure: 2012 on June 30, 2012 Comment (0)
Ultimate Adventure 2012 has begun!
This Ultimate Adventure is the off-road trip of a life time but rarely does one think about what it takes to get to and from the Ultimate Adventure. Each year our participants meet up together at the start of UA and for many this means many sleepless nights of driving, towing, flying, or worse to just get from wherever home is to wherever UA is. Being in the Pacific Northwest this year meant that for the 4-Wheel & Off-Road staff the trip would be shorter than previous years, this was also not good news for our North East participants. Our drive from the 4-Wheel & Off-Road World Headquarters in Los Angeles California found Art Director Alan Huber and Online Editor Jason Gonderman driving the Project ‘Black Sheep’ Ram 1,200 miles to Portland Oregon to pick up Feature Editor Ali Mansour. Editor-in-Chief Rick Pewe headed north with our Chilean participant Sebastian Varas and his ’42 Willys while Tech Editor Fred Williams towed our Ultimate Orange Jeep to the start point. Our invited readers and sponsors had many tales of their own including run-ins with the law, flat tires, road fixes, swapped gear sets, and more, but to see those you’ll have to head over to Facebook!
After arriving at the starting point of the 2012 Ultimate Adventure somewhere in the Pacific Northwest we all took time to get this year’s participants checked in, their vehicles through tech inspection, and catch up with old friends over a few cold ones. People continued to trickle in throughout the night and as the rain fell down everyone was in wonder and speculation of where the 2012 Ultimate Adventure might be taking us. Stay tuned…
Be sure to pick up the November and December 2012 issues of Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road Magazine for all of the details from Ultimate Adventure 2012!
