As the sun rose in the east and light broke on Ultimate Adventure 2015 Campers we found ourselves in the hills near Harlan Kentucky. With the lifting haze the shrill squeal of a whistle and the booming voice of Head Counselor Péwé shouting “Drivers Meeting” were heard throughout the holler we called our temporary home. Day three of UA 2015 would be a wet one running the rocky and muddy trails of Harlan County Kentucky’s own Black Mountain Offroad Adventure Area. With our fearless trail guide Jason Vanover and his big YJ based buggy to lead us on trails and obstacles with names like Rail Bed, Waterfall, Lower Rock Bed and so on we were bound to have fun. The beauty of most of the trails is that they range over old strip mines and reclaimed land, so the rocks, muck, and hill climbs are abundant. The area welcomes 4-wheelers so be sure to bring your toys and enjoy the 7,000 acres and more than 150 miles of trails of all skill levels. We hit some tough obstacles and a truck or two flopped over as we dodged rocks, trees and rain, but not too much broke and we all had a blast. For more action, videos, pictures check out
