A successful vehicle build for hard-core off-road use generally follows one of two patterns. Start with a small rig and build it up using full-size heavy-duty parts, or take a full-size rig already equipped with heavy-duty parts and be prepared for the Jeep sized trail to beat that big truck down to size. Offroad Design specializes in the latter, and focuses on full-size 4x4 products for hard-core off-road use. That’s for a good reason as almost all old (‘70s- earl ‘90s)1/2-, 3/4-, and 1-ton 4x4s have some if not most of the best parts available already bolted to them when they left the factory. ORD cut their teeth manufacturing adapters for NP203/NP205 transfer case doublers and have recently come out with their all new Magnum Box. The Magnum is a planetary gear reduction box that bolts to the front of an NP205 increasing its usability by adding extra reduction to this already practically indestructible transfer case. And over the past several years ORD doubers and Magnum Boxes have shown their worth between the frame rails of many a UA rig. Ultimate Adventure is a transfer case torture test with hard trail days that include heavy rock work, mud, sand and water only to be followed by long road days where drivetrains are expected to last through the heat for hundreds of at-speed road miles. With ORD’s help thousands of tortuous UA miles have passed under our rigs without any issue.

Stephen Watson and his father James have also fit the dirt filled UA mold with ease getting along with all UAer’s seamlessly for the past several years all while carrying a wealth of off-roading and technical knowledge. Their trucks are always well prepped for the trip and have excelled during this heavy-duty torture test taking full-sized 4x4s where many do not dare to tread. With that, and the expectation of lots of ORD parts in use at UA 2016 we at 4-Wheel & Off-Road welcome ORD’s Stephen and James Watson back for another Ultimate Adventure.
