The second invitee to Ultimate Adventure 2017 will bring the field’s newest vehicle to the event. Chris Paul and his 2006 Hummer H3 have plenty of off-roading credentials, as Chris is the Southern California chapter vice-president of Hummer 4x4 Off Road and a member of Santa Clarita Rock Crawlers.

Chris’ baby Hummer ditched its gutless I-5 engine awhile ago, replaced by an LH6 5.3L V-8. A four-speed auto routes power through the truck’s stock BorgWarner 4494 transfer case. Up front, a Ford HP solid Dana 44 axle with an Ox Locker replaces the stock IFS, and out back, there’s an Eaton HO72 with a Detroit locker.

The H3 features Jeep ZJ coil springs up front, controlled by 14-inch-travel Bilstein 7100 shocks. The rear suspension consists of stock H3 springs in a spring-over-axle configuration, and a Nissan Xterra steering rack keeps everything on the straight and narrow. Robust 40-inch Cooper STT Pro tires are mounted to Hummer H2 wheels, and there’s a just-in-case 12,000-pound Smittybilt winch on the front of Chris’ rig.

With plenty of experience wheeling all over California, Chris will fit right in with the rest of the #UA2017 invitees. We’re looking forward to seeing his aggressive H3 on the trail soon.
