Day 3 of Ultimate Adventure from New England #UA2018Posted in Ultimate Adventure: 2018 on June 27, 2018
After a chilly camp night in Gorham, New Hampshire, the Ultimate Adventure visited the only public 4x4 area in New Hampshire; Jericho Mountain State Park. Members of North Woods Off Road, including 2015 UA alumni, Bill Costa, lead us through the aspen trees to an obstacle called Split Rock. Before we could get there though, there were several other challenges to be overcome. The consistent theme at UA 2018 is steep terrain with inconveniently placed boulders and slick dirt and mud between them.
After a few hours playing in the 8,000 acres of trails at Jericho Mountain, we turned south back past the Mount Washington Auto Road. Along the way the group crossed paths with drivers participating in the Great Race. It’s the third or fouth time the Ultimate Adventure and Great Race have crossed paths. We weren’t certain who was more confused, or who was more excited, but participants from both events waved eagerly at each other as they passed by in their unique vehicles.
Next was a stop at Attitash Mountain Resort for a run down its alpine slide before continuing on to Mountain Mud Run Terrain Park in Warren, New Hampshire. Owners John and Brenda Lester have cut 12 miles of trails across their 63 acres, with terrain ranging from huge boulders to bottomless mud. They even have a wash facility on site to clean off all that mud off before you go home! Once cleaning up, and airing up, from our second wheeling adventure of the day, the group continued down the road to Wentworth for another night of bratwurst, beers, and stories around the campfire.
