Ultimate Adventure 2018 Invited Reader 3: Adams Clarke – #UA2018Posted in Ultimate Adventure: 2018 on June 8, 2018
We will let you in on a little secret. It is tough to get invited to the Ultimate Adventure if you drive a Jeep. It’s not that we think Jeeps aren’t capable: they certainly are. It’s just that many of the staff, sponsors, and cronies bring Jeeps so that segment is already well covered. If you want to bring a Jeep to UA it better be special, but Adams Clarke’s 1981 Scrambler fits the bill. The CJ-8 is powered by a 350-cube TBI small-block Chevy backed by an NV4500 transmission and a Dana 300 T-case. The front Dana 60 has a Detroit and the rear 14-bolt has an ARB Air Locker. The bulletproof combo continues with a simple leaf spring suspension and a Warn XD9i winch.
Clarke is a law enforcement officer and father of four, so while the Ultimate Adventure seems hectic to some we expect him to take any adversity he might face without missing a beat. Hailing from Mechanicsville, Virginia, we are hoping that Adams has all of the mechanic-ing out of the way and his biggest challenge before UA is deciding whether to sleep in a tent, hammock, or tent cot. That is assuming that we ever arrive at our destination early enough to get any sleep.
