Cursing winter won't make it go any faster. But if you have a Polaris RMK Assault 155 snowmobile, there's a good chance you won't be wishing winter away.

The RMK Assault 155 is a deep snow sled that Polaris says shed 40 pounds of weight for 2011. It tips the scales at only 446 pounds, but it's propelled by a potent liquid-cooled, 795cc, two-stroke two-cylinder engine that they call the 800 Cleanfire. This engine's Cleanfire injection automatically compensates for temperature and altitude ensuring easy starts and crisp performance in any conditions. Oh, and it also offers neck-snapping acceleration and eye-watering top end. Weight savings comes in part from a lightweight rotor and jackshaft. This assembly offers a 2 1/2-pound reduction in rotating mass, and this reduced mass allows for a sled with quicker response. And on the topic of weight reduction, it's also worth noting that the machine has a completely redesigned silencer that is seven pounds lighter than the previous version.

The foundation of the RMK Assault 155 is the Pro-Ride chassis. It has been in development for years and features better weight transfer for Rider Active Control, as well as a 300 percent more rigid chassis for more precise handling. And speaking of handling, the RMK Assault 155 has a trick coilover front and rear suspension. The front suspension is competition-spec and is more stiffly sprung and valved with an impressive nine inches of travel, while the rear suspension is designed for better flotation, outstanding deep snow performance, and improved on-trail ride with 16 inches of travel. Interestingly, the suspension uses parts that bear a name familiar to us wheelers. All four of the coilover shocks found under the machine are Walker Evans units. They're rebuildable, and the front coilovers feature piggyback reservoirs and are 16-position adjustable.

Other features of the sled include a 155-inch competition track; high-rise Pro Taper aluminum handlebars with adjustable bar clamp; a race-style master cylinder; aluminum, lightweight EVAC running boards; a low-profile LED taillight; lightweight snowflap; hand and thumb warmers; speedometer; tachometer; RMK Freestyle seat; and carbon fiber bumper.

So there you have it. If you're cursing winter, perhaps you need to need a diversion like the Polaris RMK Assault 155.
