The new 4.3L V-6, like its two larger V-8 siblings, has an aluminum block and will be followed by a 6L80E six-speed automatic transmission. But none of these engines will have a power steering pump, as the half-tons all come with an electric rack-and-pinion steering system for greater fuel economy. The pump in the lower right corner of the engine is a vacuum pump for the brake booster. Oddly enough, the three engines, though very similar, do not share the same engine bore, but do share the same stroke.
