These new Range Rovers have a lot of tech widgets, but how do they actually work off-road? We hit the dunes in low range and were easily bombing up and down the steep wet sand. As we traveled around Morocco the rains washed out some roads, and we found ourselves relying on these trucks to get us home. The Rovers never faltered. Even on what we consider low-profile tires on obnoxiously big wheels, they scrambled over loose rocky climbs and were surefooted on slick muddy mountain roads. We don’t expect that the average American Range Rover customer will batter his or her $80,000-plus SUV like this, but we are glad to say they could if needed.
